Title: What I Need

Author: J. Daniels

Date Publish: March 5th 2017

Synopsis (Goodreads):

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.

At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer—a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.

Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.

Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?

Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.

Not with him sleeping down the hall…

Hiya peeps!

How are you all?

Been a while since I last posted a review here because of school stuff and some other things. But worry no more! For here I am bringing you a new review of a book from one of my all-time favorite author, J. Daniels!!

Now you see, when her book, What I Need the fourth book of the Alabama Summer Series, came live last Sunday (March 5th), I just got to have it and devour it. You guys know how much I love Daniels’s works right? So despite having quizzes this week and midterms next week, I still read her latest release. I planned on binge reading the book but then again quizzes so I just finished it tonight, like two minutes ago (7:30 pm).

And now I can’t wait to share my thoughts about this! I know I’m going to have a hangover on this cause I’m already feeling it days before I finished reading it. Haha!

If you guys don’t know about the Alabama Summer Series is, it is a series about a group of friends who found love in the most interesting, amazing, and sometimes funny and awkward way. And in this fourth book of the series, it tells the story of CJ Tully and Riley Tennyson.

In all honesty, I didn’t know that CJ was officially part of the Bama Boys because at first I thought he was just a minor character. I seriously didn’t expect him having his own part of the series. But I still waited for his book and read it so bad my phone almost got dead on me.

I gotta say, of all the books in the Alabama Summer Series this book is my second most favorite! Of course, my beloved Reed Tennyson’s When I Fall, the third book, will always be the first. Also one of the factor that made me love What I Need is there are a lot of updates in Reed and Beth’s life because Reed is Riley’s big brother. 😀

And again, Daniels worked with her magic in this book again. Dang. I don’t think there’s a book she wrote that bore me. And honestly, I’m not exaggerating, her works are the only book I read where I let my phone go up to 15% battery. And if that happens, it means that the book is that good it made forget of charging my phone.

I like the humor in this book. Like seriously. I was laughing right along with Riley in all of CJ’s jokes. And their pick-up lines! Like *internal screaming* And also, I can somehow feel the Dirty Deeds Series vibe from this book. I don’t know why. Maybe because it was the last series I read from J. Daniels and I kind of missed the Alabama that I somehow forgot a little bit about how they talk and act and all that stuff. 😛

And I also like the whole story of this book. It’s like a fresh read for me at this moment. Because this doesn’t have any dark pasts that need conquering, it doesn’t have a heavy, hardcore drama. It’s all sweet and funny and rough. Yes rough. And I like reading something like this again for I have been reading all things dark for a while. Lol.

And man, those steamy sex scenes are steamy. I don’t even know how Daniels is doing it. Making sex scenes in her book feels like a natural thing. I mean natural that it has to be there because it’s important and needed and it will affect the whole book if those weren’t there. Some new adult books I read put in sex scenes like they just have to because it’s a new adult book. Am I making sense?

Anyway, it’s one of the things I love about J. Daniels’s books. And I am thrilled to read a sneak peek of the fifth book of the series, Say I’m Yours! It’s the story of CJ’s little brother Jake! Which means there going to have updates of CJ and Riley’s life in there too! And I can’t wait for that next book! Omg! It’s gonna be a whole new read for me because Jake is a whole new character in the squad.

To wrap this up, this book is freaking good just like all the books J. Daniels has ever wrote. 😀 Just a little friendly advice, this book is a new adult book. You know what’s inside a new adult book so if that’s not your thing then stay away from this one. But if you’re fine with it I highly recommend you read this one! Like seriously, read it. You won’t regret it! You may read this as a standalone but I strongly suggest you read the very first book of the series to avoid spoiling yourself from the stories of the other couple in the series. 1. Oooh, I’ve always been interested in Daniels’s work, but I hadn’t seen a lot of reviews on them of late. If it got the Jannin stamp of approval, I’m definitely going to get my butt on reading them!! Great review!
