Title: Faking it with Damian

Author: DJ Hunnam

Date Publish: January 23rd 2017

Genre: Contemporary, Erotica, Romance

Goodreads Rating: 4.28

Synopsis:

I don’t do relationships… especially not with egotistical jerks like my new boss, Damian Wood. The man is vile, arrogant, condescending… and scorching hot. If he weren’t my boss and a grade-A a*&hole, I would turn on my world-famous charm and seduce the pants right off the man. But giving in to his undeniable allure might just cost me my job. Or worse yet, my heart.

I’m a prick…and Janice Holder’s new boss. Which means I should stay away, but I’ve never claimed to be a nice guy. If I don’t get my twisted fascination under control, it will only be a matter of time before I bend her over my desk and screw her. Hard. The way I’ve imagined no fewer than a thousand times since we met. I’m playing with fire and neither of us can afford to get burned, but landing in hot water might just be worth the risk.

Faking It is a full-length, standalone office romance. It contains steamy scenes with a ton of heat and strong language intended for mature audiences.

Hiya bessies!

How are you all?

I honestly don’t know what to say much before I start this tour. Lol! My mind is literally blank aside from the review in my head. So…

Welcome to my stop of the Faking it with Damian book tour!

Let’s get started!

If you bessies don’t know what this book is about, it’s about Janice and Damian. Two people who work together and hated each other. They kind of have an attraction with each other but they pretend that they don’t have for a reason that I can’t tell to avoid spoilers. Haha!

First thoughts, this book sounds good and interesting. Two people who are in denial about their feelings for each other. Though most new adult books, well romance books too actually, have this kind of concept, I still kind of like reading it. So when I read the blurb of the book, I immediately wanted to know how they conquer their “in denial” stage.

When I started reading the book, it was going smoothly. The characters were introduced well and their life and other stuff. It was all going well. However, I didn’t noticed that I was reading so fast because the story seemed to be slow. It’s like I’m already at around 30% of the book and there’s still nothing much going on. And I didn’t felt that I was going fast.

But the book has a good story. It has characters that conquered their fears and their past. It wasn’t a dark kind of past but it was kind of dramatic. I like that they are both broken in different reasons but they find the way to heal each other through each other. They are not like the other books that one is broken so the other must fixed them. No. They actually fixed each other.

And yes their denial are clear. Well, on Janice’s part that is. Damian seemed to deny his feelings to Janice only and not to himself. But Janice, she denies it even to herself. She’s like a cold heart needed to be thawed.

The story is good. The narration and the characters are great too. However, I didn’t feel anything while reading it. It’s not that I didn’t felt their love, hatred and that stuff but more like I didn’t quite connect with the characters. You know that times when you read a book, finish a book, but then you feel nothing after? That’s what I felt. I read and understand the book but I didn’t have any feelings towards it after reading it. No emotions lingered on me.

It’s one of the reasons why I find it hard to write a review about this book.

To wrap this up, it’s a good book, it has a good story but I didn’t quite felt the connection with it. I like the genre and the story but it didn’t left any impression. It lacks something I can’t point a finger on.

Anyway, if you bessies like the office themed, in denial couple concept, this one is perfect for you. I would recommend it for the reason that maybe there’s something wrong with me that is why I couldn’t feel anything towards this book. Haha! Maybe you bessies have different views about this one. Give it a chance. 😀

First introduced to the genre by her grandmother, DJ Hunnam is an author with a true love for great romance novels. After reading hundreds of them over the last twenty years, she finally decided to put pen to paper and craft her own happily ever afters (HEA). She loves to write about strong heroines who fall in love with even sexier heroes, while tackling real-world problems. Her books are packed with sizzling scenes sure to make you blush.
A scientist by day and author by night, DJ Hunnam straddles the fence between the mundane and the erotic on a daily basis. When she isn’t writing, you might find her curled up with a book, chasing her two wild sons, or pursuing her own HEA with her husband of ten years. She’s a sucker for dark chocolate, a good bottle of Malbec, and a sexy six-pack.
